GOD TV

I have decided that I hate God TV, I've tried to be kind about it but someone needs to speak out about it. When I watch it I am filled with despair. I watched a man called Peter Popoff offering miracle bread, another guy called Don Stewart offering a miracle healing cloth, someone else selling a book called "The 7 secrets of unlocking wealth"

I feel the church is largely silent on this abuse of our airwaves, we somehow feel it would look bad to criticise these guys who are well meaning. Someone needs to go into the temple and turn over the tables.

I have had enough, please Wendy and Rory get a grip, some organisations have financial regulation I believe that the God channels need some theological regulation. It's almost like if you pay the money anyone can get on. Maybe I'll deliberately make a show full of theological inaccuracies and sell it to God TV, just to prove a point.

I nearly phoned up the other week and pledged a million dollars to their mission week just to see how I would be treated. I swear if you rocked up to some of these churches in a ferrari wearing a rolex and dropped a huge cheque into the offering you would be treated differently. Actually I guarantee it.

What worries me most about these extremes of wealth, name it and claim it, or as my friend Sam says "blab it and grab it" is that they are in our normal churches. Wealthy people have more power and are treated differently. Imagine if your largest tither did something wrong it would be scary to lose them!

The gospel according to TV works well for our materialistic culture. Consumerism is king.

I'm going to start a lobbying group, these people need hauling up before the charity commission for using dubious methods to raise funds.

In all honesty i think it makes Jesus sick. Television is not the best way to spread the gospel, it is people living incarnationally, the Word became flesh and lived amongst us.

I hate their inflated viewer claims, 760 million "potential" viewers the word that is down played is potential. The only people who watch this are christians.

Now there are a few areas I think they could actually do a good job, mainly by broadcasting into closed nations. We need arabic channels and chinese channels, not more American and British clap trap. What we have now smacks of old school colonisation, I'm ashamed to say that this is part of the church.

Church leaders have been to silent on this, they have let it creep up.

Hillsongs stop trying to sell your brand, just get on with the good job you are doing in Sydney, Abundant life just keep doing what you are doing in Bradford. Both of you stop rubbing our faces in your success, just be God in a skin where you are situated. What you do, although well intended, smacks of arrogance.

God TV is a stain on the bride of Christ and needs washing off.

There are people who can't get out to church, there are people that sometimes just need a bit of uplifting from the rest of the crap in the media. There are people who might want to put a bit of worship tv on while they are doing their housework. It disgusts me too, the abuse of Jesus name on tv, but its not all bad, I am sure some of it is a blessing to some people.

This YouTube link won't help your blood pressure, Brian. I don't actually have a TV - no time to watch it! - so can't confirm that the clips used to make this video are actually from God TV.

I live in Dallas the home of TBN and Day Star. It makes me sick to think about the amount of money that is being spent every day on television shows that couldn't be further from the heart of the Lord. I am even more sick at seeing so many men building their personal kingdoms and not the kingdom of the Lord.
