Invade

A month or so ago a friend of mine had a comedy brainwave. He thought it would be funny to get Delirious to number one in the singles chart, actually not just funny but a kind of nice way of honouring the band who have recently retired. Well anyway another guy then had the exact same idea a week later, even the exact same song!!!! He took it much more seriously and started really going for it. Well this week they have released a single called "History Maker" and they are pushing for it to make number 1 in the charts for Easter which I think would be fantastic.

So please get involved, check out INVADE THE AIRWAVES

Buy the single.

Election

The only English newspaper I have been able to find here has been the daily mail, it's actually quite scary. I love the bits where they point out political correctness gone mad, but hate the bits that suggest Britain is going to hell in a hand cart, blaming all Britain's woes on immigrants, muslims or the labour government. The reason I believe it is so popular here in Spain is because it gives ex-pats a reason not to go home, it reinforces there mindset that they have made the right choice to live as immigrants in Spain.

Anyway it has got me thinking, It’s an election year in the UK and I have just been reading some great stuff by the evangelical alliance.

My primary thoughts do echo those of Steve Chalke that People follow people not disembodied principles.

So for me a winner in the political sphere will be a person who is gifted as a leader. A gifted leader with the right policies can really make a difference to a country.

Here’s what the Evangelical Alliances parliamentary officer has to say on the challenges and opportunities of the upcoming election:

It is often that there is no difference between any of the political parties that compete for your vote. That is simply not true…. But we won’t know unless we get informed

Four things we can do

1. Decide what the most important issues are – the ones that affect how I vote. What values and policy priorities am I looking for?
2. Read what the parties have to say for themselves. Yes, they are trying to sell their package, but at least I can see it firsthand.
3. Change my news habits, read a different paper or watch another news channel. They all come with a filter, so a variety will help build a truer picture.
4. Visit the alliances general election site for a comparison of what each party says about different policy areas.

You can check policy comparisons at www.eauk.org/elections

For more information about engaging as a Christian with politics check out www.christiansinpolitics.org.uk

In 2005 four out of 10 people didn’t vote and amongst those aged 18 – 24 only 37% voted!

Almost as many people didn’t vote as supported labour or the conservatives!

Silence

Ok so I know I have been very blog silent over the last few weeks.

I was in the UK for 4 days last week getting my hernias looked at!!! The frustrating thing is I will have to return again in 6 weeks for more scans before they can schedule me in for an operation! I got home late Thursday night was kind of busy on Friday, then I preached at the Anglican church on Sunday morning, which was lovely.

Yesterday I caught the ferry to Denia and drove to a little town just outside Alicante to get our vomit van converted from a UK vehicle into a Spanish vehicle. Believe it or not they couldn't do it in Ibiza, because it's a Japanese import to the UK and they never made a european version. I had to find a specialist which is expensive but we need it done by the summer.

The hotel I am staying at until Friday said it had internet, it did, but somehow my power book won't connect, so I am paying extra at a little cafe over the road!!!

Got to stave off the boredom, so I have brought 3 books to study and am going to read through Exodus. Along with some preparation for the summer with regards prayer walks, team orientation and small tours for our teams. I am treating it like being on a little mini retreat.

This is elderly ex-pat world!! I can't believe how grey and how british this place is.

Not a lot of people to talk to here so I am going to practice silence whilst here!

I love this quote from Mother Teresa:
“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Travels

I'm in the Uk at the moment seeing a doctor, nothing to worry about. Although i was told yesterday that I have to come back in 6 weeks for some more scans and stuff, which is just an inconvenience.

We have now landed on a bible design and I just wanted to say thanks to you all for sending designs in.

I get back tomorrow and then on Monday I am off to Alicante for 5 days to get our 24-7ibiza vomit van sorted out. New lights, re registration the whole deal. Still haven't heard anything about our fine.......

Also spent yesterday getting a 24-7 ibiza CD together, which is all good.

Bible design!

I'm looking for a designer who would do me a freebie and design the cover art for our "Jesus Loves Ibiza" bibles? We loved the above design and want something similar, but different, if you know what I mean.

I'm also loving this Ibiza Rocks vibe:

I don't necessarily need these exact colours, but hope you get the idea. So if you know a designer or are a designer who would do this for free and could do it quickly!!! I would love to hear from you.

Sunset Ibiza

I had a 20 minute window of opportunity to get some great snaps yesterday, the sunsets can be better when there is a bit of cloud involved.

I am enjoying photography as an artistic outlet.

Need to get a tripod and just got to check if I can make little movies on my camera then I may do podcasts!

This bottom one is my favourite.
