Hey It's me! Yes, I'm in Uruguay. I'm actually English I'm afraid, here for a total of two years, 5 months left. Uruguay did win the first world cup, in fact they hosted it! Uruguay is an interesting country - not much to do as a tourist - although there is beautiful coastline - but churches are struggling and Christianity is very much seen a tried and failed. Think Europe but without much of a Christian past.
I'm here on Latin Link's stride program. I came with an interest to work with uni students, but struggled to find enough to fill my time and things really to feed in to. Churches and ministries here are generally small. So i'm doing some bits with students but also helping out in an international church which is keen to grow and reach out in to the community. Have a look at my blog - I believe you should be able to link there through my profile - should give you an idea of what I'm up to - although it's a bit long! Anyway, been very interested in what you're up to. I remember reading about you on the 24-7 website when you headed out there and then when i found out a few months back that you had a blog I've been following it with interest.
Feel free to fire away with questions about Uruguay.
I have always really loved the sound of the word Montevideo and also watched loads of old war movies were german boats hid in the harbour and then sunk themselves so the brits couldn't get the boat. Found that fascinating. Also the football thing and then finally because I know absolutely nothing else about it and like the idea of discovery...
