Don't let go

I’m fed up with victorious Christian living, I am victorious he has given me victory over death and sin, he has given me all sorts. But a lot of the time I don’t feel victorious I feel desperate, I struggle and am tired

I sometimes think "You shouldn’t say that Brian, you’re admitting defeat." I don’t care I’M WEAK.

I am weak, but I am not going to give up. I am going to overcome I am going to persevere, I may not feel victorious, but I am not going to let go of God. This is an attitude of mind that we need to carry throughout our whole Christian life.

There are many times when I feel dirty, fearful, hurting and desperate but I will hang on, I will overcome. I mightn’t finish standing in a three piece suit looking like some sort of superstar, I might just finish panting lying on the ground covered in dust and sweat hurting, but I will overcome.

I’m going to hang on.

I've been struck by the phrase "Don’t let go."

Here’s the deal despite my present reality, which I mustn’t ignore or pretend doesn’t exist I have to say to myself. Don’t let go.

I’m tired. Don’t let go.

I’ve been praying for years. Don’t let go.

This isn’t easy. Don’t let go.

I’m hurt. Don’t let go.

I’m a mess. Don’t let go.

I feel down. Don’t let go.

I’m weak. Don’t let go.

I can't see an end. Don't let go.

2 Corinthians 4: 7 - 18

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Been listening to the song "I will hold on" quite a bit recently.

And this verse from Galatians has been on my mind when praying for a few weeks - Don't get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right, if you don't give up.
