Blogging

Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do criticize him, you'll be a mile away and have his shoes.

My blogging has been a little bit up and down recently. It is probably a reflection of the busy season we have recently begun. In the winter months I have much more time to think about the composition of my pieces.

A few self observations on my blogging.

My grammar, language and tone has deteriorated - I need to not be so sloppy. My rants on occasion are a little too caustic I will still rant but will watch how I rant.

My audience has grown and I have allowed that to affect me, so for simplicity and to take the pressure off, I have removed all my stat counters. From now on I won't know how many people are reading or where they are reading my blog from.

I cannot be deep all the time, I will not take myself too seriously, but I will try not to be too flippant.

Why do I blog?
I blog to express my opinion. I blog as a kind of journal. I blog to provide information about what we do here. I blog because I know there are people out there who pray for us, my blog fuels their prayers. I blog because I enjoy it. I blog because I am opinionated and it occasionally feeds my ego. I blog because it is therapeutic, some things are better out than in. I blog because I enjoy other peoples blogs and hope they might enjoy mine. I blog because I like the comments and the dialogue that posts generate.

So I will continue blogging, I have heard what some of you have said, I appreciate your candidness and honesty, although I don't always appreciate the tone of a small minority. I am never a fan of scathing anonymous comments even if you don't have a blogger account it's easy enough to put your name to your comment and own what you say.

Thanks for reading.

Hi there,

I don't know you and you don't know me but I read your blog and although you are 'different ' to me I love and admire the work you do. I really couldn't do it and you probably couldn't do the 'work' I do in my rather traditional church area (visiting the elderly at home). Your blog is exactly what it is supposed to be... your thoughts at that moment and if it annoys some people..DONT READ IT!!God bless and keep up the work! Its a good job we aren't the same. Lou..

I read because I want to see more of what's going on in Ibiza. I read because I want to hear what's going on in your life (in the non-stalker kind of way....). I read because you're part of the 24-7 family and we have to keep tabs on each other!

Hope all is well!

I love reading your adventures! One day I'll actually get over to see you Heasleys in person. For now I keep up here and cheer you on from the other side of the big blue ball.

I really like your rants, I think because I am known to rant!
I like how you provoke people to think, so often we just sit & take everything in without question. Provoking can be used for the powers of good to help people figure out what they really think!!!
Emotion for me is something I connect with coz it is how people really are, and if so many people don't want to be who they are.
O.K, sorry for ranting on your blog...I will go now :/
Keep smiling :)
Lauren

I suspect you are a sensitive person, as I am, and that may be partly why you blog. Insensitive people, like your anononymous sniper, wouldn't do such a thing. They wouldn't want the whole world to know their business and wouldn't be able to think of anything interesting to say anyway. In a way, they are jealous.

I've found my most avid readers, going by my stats, are the ones who criticise me the most. Your anon is probably on here all the time ;)

I read your blog as often as I can because you cover a variety of subjects and not just Ibiza. You also write from the heart which beats perfect grammer every time. Besides....it's alright!

Thanks for the comments guys, yes I probably am sensitive, I let criticism fly around in my head a little to much. The thing that starting to play on my mind was when I started to get over a 1000 page views and 800 visitors per week, I started to feel the pressure. So for my own sake I am telling myself only a few people read my blog. Actually in the world of blogging 800 a week is only a few people. I will continue to try to write from the heart. I like emotion
