The Dog Collar has arrived!

What am I going to do now? It's here, it fits well, it goes perfectly with my grey suit, it feels strange but also kind of nice!

I am trying to encourage Tracy to get a Nuns outfit but then that might be a bit strange!

One night next week I am going to slip out and walk quietly around the westend and see what happens.

Anyone got any thoughts?

I remeber chatting about this in Dresden before I even knew you were planning it. I have seriously considered it myself, because:

1) It's great for getting you access into anything from hospitals to incident scenes to commercial premises, and for blagging your way past minor officials.

2) People trust the collar and will open up where they wouldn't to a stranger. Don't ask why...

3) It makes you instantly recognisable and is a great conversation starter.

4) There is a kind of camp, Adam Ant quality to 18th century menswear which fits well with the whole Ibiza scene imho.

Against this, having expoited the stereotype to take advantage of the access and trust it gives you, you then have to climb back out of the box again to really start relating to people...

I like that Phil, thanks it helps just to have a rationale behind what I am doing, like most things here in Ibiza we feel like we are just making it up as we go along

I think that Phil has got it right re access & recognition, but also acknowledging the "why must I always explain?" (Van Morrison syndrome) - i.e. I am "one of them" but not as you imagine "one of them" to be.

Maybe not a nun's outfit, but I had wondered if you should be modelling some C21 monk's garb? I am sure Shane Claiborne could give you saome tips.

And maybe how about some team boiler suits to go with the boiler room?

At the end of the day it is our lives that should sign post "something other" , but there is no harm in trying to express this in the way we dress.

Keep us posted as to the reactions.
