I was asked to be assistant football (soccer) coach this week and I accepted. I have always thought of myself as a Bill Shankly like manager and it's really good to help out my friend Martin as he coaches the school team.

So first training session today and Martin was ill and i had to do it on my own! They are a great bunch of lads who really try hard but very easily distracted.

Out of the fifteen players, we have one girl, an Israeli, an American, Guatemalans, Dutch, German, Austrian, Spanish, Italian and English. Thankfully everyone speaks English.

It's more like managing Chelsea. Anyway I am not a great coach as I was never a great footballer but it's good fun.

I'm better at backgammon, a sport I am growing to love. The cut and thrust, the strategy, the last minute tension, it should be an olympic sport.

Liverpool play Inter Milan tonight, we need to pull something out of the bag after our horrendous loss to Barnsley on Saturday. I will support Liverpool until the end, but they leave me a little frustrated at time. Promising much and delivering little.

Something I can also be guilty of!

We watched the second half of that Liverpool/Barnsley game. Then we watched Man U. beat Arsenal 4-0. Two very weird results!

I have a wee feeling we're going to get a win tonight.

Liverpool are like women- inconsistent, frustrating and hard to predict. But we still love them!

You like backgammon? We should play! I love the game as well. I have it on my iPhone and am playing it anytime I find myself waiting for something or someone.

laughing at J-Macs reference to women there ... i'd also like to add that i don't mind austrians, dutch and germans playing footy but definately not women.

Yeah, don't let them move furniture either- they're useless at that too. So I've heard anyway...

P.S. Go Liverpool :-)
