Agua

If you like shopping or just looking at beautiful things you should check out Sluiz when you are in Ibiza. We bought a lovely little table for our room there.

Whilst I was in the shop I noticed that they sell loads of different types of bottled water, one bottle in particular leapt out at me mainly because of the beautiful bottle and also the price. It was bling H2o which was retailing at 39 euros a bottle!!!!! Check out the bling website The philosophy is "it's couture water that makes an announcement like a Rolls Royce Phantom....." Now I am not against a little bit of luxury but something about it jarred me a little.

This prompted me to look at charitywater.org they say that $20 can give one person clean, safe water for 20 years. If you donate to them 100% of your money goes directly to fund clean water projects.

Stick with me a minute, I've had an idea.......

Further research led me to find that:

- 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe water supply.
- 2.4 billion people do not have access to improved sanitation.
- Less than 1% of the entire world's water is fresh water that is accessible fresh water, suitable for human use.
- A person can live about a month without food but only about a week without water.
- More than 200 million hours are spent each day by women and female children walking to collect water from distant, often polluted sources.
- The average American individual uses between 100 and 176 gallons of water each day.
- The average African family uses about 5 gallons of water each day.
- Approximately 60-70% of the rural population in underdeveloped countries does not have access to a safe and convenient water source nor a satisfactory means of waste disposal.
- More than 6000 children die each day from diseases related to drinking contaminated water, improper sanitation, and poor hygiene
- 80% of illnesses are related to the lack of clean water and poor sanitation

I was talking with a friend about promoting something in Ibiza to get people think, so daydreaming in the car I started to think "what if you could get an organisation like Pacha or somewhere to sell water that donated say 50% of the profits to sustainable water projects?"

Ibiza putting something back.

Pacha bottled water? Pacha bottled living water? In case you didn't know you can pay 8 euros for a bottle of water in a club what if every 4 euros of each bottle could be given to a sustainable water project.

Pacha could role it out globally, great publicity and loads of people actually helped. Maybe just a dream but I am going to explore starting something to do with water.

Maybe I could start a little company, The Living Water Company.

I'm sure this is already being done somewhere but if we made it specific to clubbers and party goers it could mean that you not only had a great night but in the course of your enjoyment you actually helped someone.

Do you think it's a goer?

sounds like a great idea

we did bottled water test in the mag in january - needless to say "bling" got the lowest score by a mile and was described as "Chemical – septic – bitter" ;)

Bling was selling for 99euro a bottle in my favourite cafe-bar in Leipzig.

Yes!

This is has been pressing on my heart for a while, especially when I fill a glass of water from my tap, take a couple of mouthfuls and then pour the rest away.

How blessed some of us are and how wasteful too.
